Roger Montgomery - classical guitar teacher, performer, composer, arranger and director of the Chelmsford Classical Guitar Orchestra - 'Chego'. 


Roger is based in Chelmsford, Essex and plays a wide variety of musical styles including Classical, Spanish, South American, jazz standards and arrangements of popular pieces. He is also Music Director for the classical guitar ensemble 'Chego' -(Chelmsford Guitar Orchestra). After performing with bands in the sixties, he studied classical guitar with George Zarb to diploma level, qualified as a teacher at London University  and then at Goldsmith's College for his B.Mus(Hons) degree. Roger also performs regularly with George Zarb in concerts of music for two guitars.

Spring Spree 

 Recent recitals include Ongar Music Club, The Cramphorn Theatre and Chelmsford Cathedral Lunchtime Concerts. The scope of his playing styles is wide, ranging from music for formal classical concerts to weddings and corporate functions.

Roger also accompanies his daughter in a flute and guitar duo and recently gave a recital at Chelmsford Cathedral's Lunchtime Concert series; click on the links below to watch pieces from the programme.

They regularly play together at concerts, weddings and other functions. All the traditional repertoire is available and music can usually be arranged for special requests. 

On occasion, Roger also plays mandolin and ukulele banjo.
